Is a Death Doula right for me?

Considering end-of-life support can bring up many questions, emotions, and uncertainties. If you are here, you may be facing a serious illness, caring for someone you love, grieving a loss, or simply feeling called to understand death more consciously.

There is no “right” time or “right” reason to work with a death doula.

This work is about presence, compassion, and honoring what matters most to you.

You Might Benefit From a Death Doula If…

A death doula may be supportive for you if:

  • You or a loved one is facing a life-limiting illness

  • You feel anxious, overwhelmed, or afraid about dying

  • You want emotional or spiritual support alongside medical care

  • You wish for a more peaceful, conscious, or meaningful death experience

  • You want help talking about fears, wishes, or unfinished conversations

  • You are a caregiver in need of guidance and gentle support

  • You are grieving or anticipating a loss

  • You want to plan ahead and understand your options

You do not need to be actively dying to receive support. Many people begin working with a death doula months — or even years — before the end of life as a way to prepare, reflect, and find peace.

What If I’m Not Sure What I Need?

That’s completely natural.

Most people don’t know what kind of support they want — only that something feels tender, confusing, or heavy.

A death doula does not require you to have answers.

Together, we can gently explore:

  • What you’re feeling emotionally and spiritually

  • What fears or questions you may be carrying

  • What kind of support would feel comforting

  • What matters most to you in this season of life

Sometimes the greatest gift is simply having someone who can sit with you without rushing, fixing, or judging.
